Compassion Meets Action in the Heart of Pender County

We’re teaming up with the Burgaw Lions Club and Rocky Point Boy Scouts Troop #249 to ensure our neighbors have the supplies they need to stay safe, fed, and connected if the power goes out or the roads are blocked. This year, your donations will help build emergency kits for families across the county.

📍 On-site collection days:

  • Saturday, May 16 (10 AM – 2 PM): Food Lion in Rocky Point
  • Saturday, May 30 (10 AM – 2 PM): Food Lion in Rocky Point & Piggly Wiggly in Burgaw

📦 Suggested Food Items

  • Canned fruits and vegetables: Look for cans with pull-tab openings.
  • Protein sources: Canned tuna, salmon, chicken, beans, peanut butter.
  • Ready-to-eat meals: Soup, stew, chili, and pasta cans with pull-tab openings.
  • Snacks: Granola bars, trail mix, nuts, and dried fruits.
  • Breakfast items: Individual cereal boxes or oatmeal packets.
  • Whole grain items: Rice, Pasta, etc.

📦 Suggested Non-Food Items

  • Bottled water and juice boxes: Hydration is crucial and often overlooked.
  • Batteries (D, C, AAA, AA), portable power banks, and LED flashlights.
  • First aid kits, N95 masks (for mold/debris cleanup), work gloves, and body wipes.
  • Tarps, bungee cords, and duct tape.
  • Baby supplies: Diapers, baby wipes, and baby food.
  • Personal care items: Toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, sanitary products.
  • Hygiene products: Hand sanitizers, wet wipes, and soap.

Every single item stays right here in our community. On June 6th, we will be distributing these sorted kits at the Pender Long-term Recovery Group Disaster Expo.
